Resumé tips

Your Resumé, or Curriculum Vitae is the first thing that a client will see and is your opportunity to highlight your relevant skills and experience.  There’s no need for War and Peace but it does need to provide an insight into your work experience.

In today’s highly competitive market, clients will see many resumés or Curriculum Vitaes’ (CV’s) submitted for each request they release so it’s important to keep the information you present relevant.

Remember that in almost every case your CV will be read in conjunction with your Selection Criteria responses so it’s important that your CV includes enough detail for clients to compare with your claims against the criteria.  It’s very important that there is a correlation between the two, otherwise you could be viewed as two different people.

We would expect to see details for up to last 5-10 years in your CV.  For those who have much more experience, include earlier roles in a table.

It may seem like it goes without saying, but don’t over embellish.  No matter how the Canberra market grows it remains a small place.
